Sainik Schools are renowned public boarding schools in India, known for their excellence in education. These schools are managed by the Sainik Schools Association, which operates under the authority of the Ministry of Defence in India. Established in 1961, the primary objective of Sainik Schools is to provide quality education to boys from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and prepare them for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the National Naval Academy.
Currently, there are a total of 33 Sainik Schools across the country. All these schools are affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Sainik School Eligibility Criteria 2023-24

- Only boys can apply for admission to Sainik Schools, while only girls can apply for admission to Sanik School, Chhingchhip.
