The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has rolled out the eagerly awaited Student Bus Pass for the academic year 2023-24. Starting from the 17th of July 2023, students can avail of this amazing opportunity to travel at discounted rates on KSRTC buses. This Bus Pass allows students to travel on KRSTC buses for free to their educational institutions and schools.The application process has been made incredibly convenient as it can now be completed online through the user-friendly Seva Sindhu portal.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of this initiative is the introduction of a fully computerized pass distribution system, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for students. Once students have submitted their applications, the KSRTC team will diligently verify them, ensuring that all the necessary criteria are met. Upon successful verification, students will receive an SMS notification on their registered mobile number, providing details about the pass issuing counter, including its name and address.

To obtain the printed pass, students will be required to pay the applicable fee, which can be done conveniently through UPI, card, or cash. This new system not only simplifies the application process but also makes it more accessible for students across Karnataka. Utilizing the Seva Sindhu portal for the online application process comes at no cost. However, if students choose to apply through Karnataka One, Grama One, or Bangalore One centers, a nominal application fee of Rs 30 will be applicable.
It’s important to note that the Government of Karnataka has taken a commendable step by offering free travel privileges to girls aged six and above who are domiciled within the state. Therefore, domiciled girl students need not go through the bus pass application process. However, for girls studying in Karnataka but hailing from neighboring states, they can obtain their student bus passes by adhering to the prescribed fee structure. This allows for fair access to the transportation benefits provided by the government.
